Quality

Quality Focussed

Antrim’s commitment to quality standards were recognised internationally when Antrim became the first company worldwide to achieve EN60742 approvals for an entire family of toroidal transformers from 10VA to 1KVA. Having already accomplished UL506 & C22.2 No.66-1988 approvals on a range of 23 different core sizes.

"If you were to think of a transformer as a car, Antrim’s would be the Mercedes of the industry - compact, efficient and they never let you down. There is a certain comfort when purchasing Antrim’s transformers all I need to worry about is placing the order the rest is taken care of." ….Mike McCarthy (MacElec Ltd)

Quality Approvals

Antrim standard toroidal transformers are approved to:

EN61558-1:1997 (KEMA agreement 962307)
on 15 core sizes (covered by our UL agreement).

Our KEMA agreement also covers:
custom transformer designs on the same 15 core sizes and allows the inclusion of

         - audio grade transformer designs;
         - electrostatic/safety screens;
         - GOSS bands;
         - thermal cutouts;
         - potted centres;
         - total encapsulation;
         - customised connectors; and
         - reduced flux density transformer designs.

Available primary options (for both standard range transformers and custom design transformers) are:

110V, 115V, 117V, 120V, 220V, 230V, 240V, 2 x 110V, 2 x 115V, 2 x 120V & 2x 0-110-120V.

Maximum allowable secondary voltage is 1000V (see custom design page for restrictions).

EN61558-1 replaced EN60742 based on the International standard IEC 742, (also known as BS3535 in the UK and VDE 0551 in Germany).

EN60601 – 1 approvals for a range of four mains isolations transformer for medical use from 13VA to 1KVA to implement UL506 for transformers was gained in 1997.

UL506 & C22.2 NO66-1988

Antrim produces a large standard range or toroidal transformers approved to UL506 & C22.2 No.66-1988 on 23 core sizes, 15 of which are also covered by our EN 61558-1:1997 agreement. Power ratings are from 10VA to 1050VA.

Antrim's  UL file number is E179800, click Here  to go directly to certificate.

Our UL agreement also covers:
custom designs on the same 23 core sizes and allows the inclusion of:

- electrostatic / safety screens;
- thermal cutouts;
- potted centers;
- total encapsulation;and
- audio grade designs.

The available primary voltage range (for standard range & custom designs) is 100-600V 50/60Hz.

The maximum allowable secondary voltage range is 3-600V (see custom design page for restrictions).

UL 506 covers Speciality Transformers in the US whilst C22.2 No.66-1988 covers Speciality Transformers in Canada. In each case, the transformers are to be housed in robust enclosures to protect them from mechanical & environmental damage. If plastic enclosures are employed, they must be constructed from a UL 94-V0 approved material and thermal protection must be used.

100%  Tested

All our transformers are 100% tested. Antrim's record stands for itself with a 0% in-field failure rate and a 0.02% in-house failure at final 100% test.  Antrim's transformers are reliable, safe and manufactured to the highest of standards.

"Quality speaks for itself, antrim is a fantastic company with a wonderful team who are quality focussed and result driven." .. David Barnes (Barnes Audio NI Ltd)
